The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is exactly what I’ve wanted in a foldable, but I’m more excited for the Z Fold 9

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is easily the closest I've come to pulling the trigger on a foldable. But I still can't do it.

📱 The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Is Exactly What I’ve Wanted in a Foldable — But I’m More Excited for the Z Fold 9

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 finally feels like the foldable form factor many people have been waiting for. 👀

📺 A wider 4:3 inner display
Instead of the usual tall, almost-square Fold screen, the Fold 8 opens into a much wider 7.6-inch display. That makes watching videos, reading and gaming feel much more natural, with less wasted space around widescreen content.

📱 More compact when folded
At just 201g and 9.7mm thick when folded, the Fold 8 is considerably easier to carry than Samsung’s previous approach.

🔋 Better battery
Samsung has increased the battery from 4,400mAh on the Fold 7 to 4,800mAh.

⚡ Strong performance
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy gives the phone flagship-level performance, although sustained GPU workloads can cause significant performance drops because of the compact design.

But there are still things holding it back. 👇

❌ No telephoto camera
❌ No S Pen support
❌ No Flex Mode
❌ No dust resistance

And that’s exactly why the Z Fold 9 is so exciting.

Samsung has finally found a foldable shape that makes a lot of sense. The next step could be keeping this excellent wide format while fixing the compromises — better cameras, stronger durability and even better performance.

The Fold 8 feels like Samsung finally got the idea right. Now I want to see what Samsung does with it next. 🔥
